Sustainable Reindeer Husbandry

Welcome to the official home page for "Sustainable Reindeer Husbandry" - a Norwegian initiated reindeer project under "Sustainable Development Programme" in Arctic Council.

The main goal for the project is to assess circumpolar reindeer herding and husbandry in relation to economic and social/cultural sustainability in the Arctic.

This will be done by carrying out a thematic survey and assessment of reindeer husbandry in the region (Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia and Alaska), with reference to economic and social conditions, national management and legal status in reindeer husbandry.

The Sustainable Reindeer Husbandry report was presented at the Ministerial Meeting in Arctic Council in Inare, October 9-10 2002.

If you want to download the report, or part of the report, please go to "Online Documents", or use the link to the left.
